The Provident Bank Promotes Southern New Hampshire Commercial Loan Officer to
Assistant Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer
(Bedford, NH., August 1, 2019) – Chuck Withee, President and Chief Lending Officer, announces today that Elliot Smith, located at The Provident’s Bedford, NH office, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Commercial Lending Officer.
“Since joining The Provident in 2017 as a Commercial Loan Officer, Elliot has developed a deep understanding of the bank’s core values of courage, mutuality, empathy, soundness and innovation, and lives those core values every day while serving the needs of his customers,” comments Withee.
“Elliot has taken an active role in his development at the bank by learning the ins and outs of lending, developing key relationships within the Southern New Hampshire community, and holding himself to the high standards of The Provident,” comments Joe Kenney, SVP, Commercial Lending Officer. “His numerous community commitments more than show his enthusiasm for our community as a whole. I am proud to have him on my team.”
Elliot was recently accepted into the very prestigious Leadership Greater Manchester Class of 2020 program. In addition, he is a member of the Elliot Hospital’s campaign committee which is raising funds for their Regional Cancer Center, and a member of Granite United Way’s Emerging Leadership Society where he is also the committee chair for Memberships.
Elliot attended the American Bankers Association Commercial Lending School at the Southern Methodist University Graduate School of Banking in 2019, and was awarded a certificate of completion of a LEAN Management course by the Massachusetts Banker’s Association in 2018.

In his spare time, Elliot teaches bagpipes to a group band to support the mission of NHSCOT, which hosts the Highland Games in Lincoln, NH. He also travels within New England, Canada, Ireland and Scotland annually to compete at various highland games with the Worcester Kiltie Pipe Band. These contests include: The North American Championships, the United Kingdom Championships, and the World Pipe Band Championships.
